BMTN STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Description: The Black Music Therapy Network, Inc. Student Scholarship was designed to contribute to the advancement of Black students within the field of music therapy. An award in the amount of $1500 will be offered annually to degree-seeking students who are of African descent and racially positioned as Black to offset the cost of attendance at a music therapy academic program. Academic costs may include tuition, fees, room and board, books, and/or instruments. Eligible applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at a music therapy program and demonstrate financial need. To be considered for this scholarship, all applicants must submit an online application by November 30, 2023. Applicants must state the benefit of receiving this award, demonstrate financial need, and provide documentation of enrollment or acceptance to a music therapy program. The award recipients will receive email notification by December 15, 2023. Please direct any questions to the Awards & Scholarship Coordinator at financialsupports@blackmtnetwork.org.

BMTN DEVELOPMENT GRANT
Description: The Black Music Therapy Network Practitioner Development Grant offers monetary assistance to support the advancement and growth of the Black music therapy community. An award in the amount of $250 will be offered to persons of African descent and racially positioned as Black to aid in music therapy career-related expenses (e.g. continuing education costs, purchase of instruments, practitioner supervision, business development, or CBMT examination fees) that contribute to the applicant’s advancement or continued improvement of practitioner knowledge, skill, and effectiveness. Eligible applicants must be a board-certified music therapist or have completed coursework in music therapy and are certificate-seeking. To be considered for this award, all applicants must submit an online application with a one-page narrative (400 to 500 words) stating how they would benefit from this award. All applications are due March 15, 2024. The narratives will be assigned an ID number, then distributed and reviewed independently by members of a masked review panel. BIPOC Student Fund by Black Arts Therapies Educators' Emergency Grant
Description: The purpose of the Emergency Grant is to provide funds to creative arts therapies students in need of immediate assistance with food, housing, emergency travel expenses, cell phone service, medical care, child care, or adult home care services. A select number of Emergency Grants will be designated for students whose needs are based on unplanned or additional educational expenses such as high-speed internet, technology repairs or upgrades, books, art supplies, and instruments.
Amount: $250 - $1000
Application Deadline: Applications for the Fall 2022 semester will be accepted on a monthly basis with a deadline of the 15th at 11:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time. Applications will be accepted until funds are exhausted or by November 15, 2022.
