The Department of Music, Theatre & Dance at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in Music Therapy. This is a full-time, tenure-track, ten-month position at Salisbury University, an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
Primary Job Duties: Teaching responsibilities for this full-time, tenure-track position will include undergraduate courses in Music Therapy and may include general music courses or applied lessons as appropriate. This position will oversee our new Music Therapy curriculum and ensure its compliance with University, National Association of Schools of Music, and American Music Therapy Association standards. The successful candidate will supervise students completing clinical work and internships, advise music majors, and provide general service to the department and University. Candidates with experience teaching applied piano at the University level are preferred.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree (or higher) in Music Therapy. CBMT Board Certification. Evidence of three years of successful professional clinical experience. Evidence of successful teaching at the University level. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD in Music Therapy. If ABD, doctoral degree must be completed before hire date. Evidence of successful applied teaching (piano preferred) at the University level. Evidence of promising scholarship and/or creative activity. Evidence of promising professional connections and national visibility. Ability to recruit undergraduate music therapy majors.
